Dr. Beatrice Atieno Abura is the Director TVET. The University was accredited by the Technical and Vocational Education and Training Authority (TVETA) on 31st January 2022. The purpose of the accreditation was to enable the University to offer diploma and certificate programs which are fully recognized by the Kenya National Qualifications Authority (KNQA) and TVETA in accordance with the TVET Act of 2013. The directorate also provide the opportunity for the prospective students to proceed with their training to degree level, moreover, the TVET directorate has also championed the aspect of prior learning recognition. The mandate of the directorate is in line with the government, development partners and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) efforts geared towards 100% transition in education sector. Following the accreditation, the directorate have attracted students in 26 level 6 (diploma) programs anchored across the eight schools in the University. A total of 576 students were placed by the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) for the academic year 2022/2023. The programs include: community health and development; health records & information technology (IT); information communication and technology (ICT); cyber security; library & information science; applied statistics; science laboratory technology; land survey; cartography; marine engineering; environmental science; digital journalism; construction management; baking technology; and agripreneurship among others. The programs offer the desired Competency-based training to students with a primary focus on industrial needs and job creation in the country. In addition, the directorate, fosters industrial partnerships and research collaborations through consortiums and development of initiatives for effective implementation of TVET strategies, approaches and trends with the focus of impacting on the human lives.
